How do I get help with my reading?

Library literacy services are for English-speaking adults who want to improve their basic reading and writing skills.

After a brief intake interview at a library close to your home or work, you will be matched with a volunteer tutor. You will meet one-to-one or in small groups with this tutor once or twice a week for about an hour to an hour-and-a-half. Tutors and students meet at the times and days that are mutually convenient for their schedules.

Most tutoring takes place in the library so tutors and students can work privately in a comfortable environment with the support of staff and with books and resources close at hand.

You set the pace! There is no pressure, just a supportive environment for learning at your own speed. It’s easy to get started with these free services by contacting a local library literacy provider near you.
