Valerie Hardie
Val has been with READ/San Diego, the Adult Literacy Program of the San Diego Public Library, since its inception in 1988, and was appointed Literacy Program Administrator in August, 2005. She has worked in many aspects of literacy while at READ/San Diego, a dynamic award-winning program that provides tools and tutors for hundreds of residents annually who cannot read. Under the auspices of READ/San Diego, Val served as Interim Literacy Program Coordinator for the San Diego County Library-Adult Literacy Services for two years. In addition to her passion for making a difference and moving people forward, Val brings extensive knowledge of literacy program management, partnership development and volunteer management to her passion for making a difference and moving people forward.
In addition to running this 10-person operation of talented and committed professionals, Val often attends conferences around the country/state, honing her professional skills and sharing her expertise with other literacy professionals in the adult literacy field.
